Notes on interpretation

a) three squares over four squares → triple time over quadruple time

b) a mystic, ominous mask + yin/yang → one whole-tone scale in one voice, the other in a second voice

c) chord progression in the treble follows the line; triangles/arrows in the bass → scales running up and down

d) tree crown slanted, pollen flying around in the wind → light trills (follow the upper line)

e) wind/water vortices → trills start going up and down (also following the upper line)

f) stuff flying around again → repetition of d)
mountain → ascending French horn

g) yellow figure → leaps
light, vibrant flower waltz

h) mystic, ritual dance

i) radiating crystal in a socket

j) triangles/arrows → scales again; then dots → disintegrating

k) not the end of the movement yet – beginning of a coda
